Colon Cancer Early Symptoms
Colon Cancer Early Symptoms
Colon cancer early symptoms, it is widely believed that shows up rather early. Fact is that they do, but the early symptoms are usually suspected to be connected to some other illness, which makes it difficult to determine whether a person has colon cancer or not. The most obvious colon cancer symptoms are seen in advanced stages, which makes it difficult to cure and therefore difficult to deal with as well. This is the reason why thousands of death occurs every year because of colon cancer. Colon cancer early symptoms are still not life threatening so it is important that you should know what these symptoms are so you can seek early medical treatment to prevent the condition from becoming worse. Some symptoms include:
1. Constipation and Diarrhea
These two conditions are the most common of the colon cancer early symptoms. They are not at all life threatening, but the factor that is causing them is.
2. Feeling bloated and feeling an urge to empty the bowel even when you do not have to
When you feel this urge so often (even if you just finished emptying your bowel) or you feel like doing so in the most uncomfortable situations, you may be having problems associated to the colon. This is because a tumor in the colon can make you feel full even if you are actually not.
3. Feeling overly-exhausted even when you didn’t do so many physical activities
Fatigue can be related to other health problems, which makes it a vague basis for colon cancer. But then again, this may be related to the growth of a tumor, so you have to be more careful. Although over fatigue does not exactly point to colon cancer, it is best to make sure by undergoing a medical exam. Feeling fatigue more often than normal is not a good sign.
4. Thin Stools
Abnormalities in the digestive tract can cause the stool to thin, (as thin as a regular pencil) especially when there is a blockage in the area where the stool passes. The size of the stool can usually give you an insight of what maybe going on inside the digestive system and can be a manifestation of abnormalities such as tumors. Thin stools do not always mean that you have a tumor in the colon, although there is a possibility.
5. Pain in the Stomach or in the Abdomen
When the digestive tract is blocked by a tumor, it can cause pain or cramping in the stomach or abdomen. This can be a vague symptom of colon cancer, although it can also be connected to a number of things. The pain can be associated with the growing tumor which is pressing other vital structures.
6. Blood in the stool
This is one common symptom of colon cancer, although it is not assurance that you have colon cancer as it may also be related to other diseases such as hemorrhoids. There are situations where the blood cannot be seen by the naked eye, so you have to be more vigilant.
In most cases, colon cancer developed within a period of many years and gradually became malignant. This is the reason why most colon cancer early symptoms are not very precise and may be highly connected to other illnesses. A tumor usually starts as a polyp, which is not at all dangerous, and may, or may not develop into a malignant cancer. Some polyp can develop into cancer especially if the condition is left untreated at its early stage.
Colon cancer can be determined with the appearance of obvious symptoms, but in some cases, people are diagnosed with colon cancer even without experiencing the above symptoms. This means that not experiencing colon cancer symptoms does not mean that you are totally negative of colon cancer. This is the reason why screening tests are recommended for all people who may or may not manifest colon cancer early symptoms. A colorectal screening test can give you the assurance that you are safe from colon cancer. Early screening can prevent possible development of life-threatening cancer.
Being keen in observing unusual signs can save your life. So whenever you think you are experiencing things that are way beyond normal, you should have yourself examined at once.
